Antioxidant and lipidperoxidation in chronic renal failure patients

The present study was conducted to determine malondialdehyde (MDA) as index of free radical induced lipid peroxidation and some antioxidant e.g. Albumin, Uric acid, vitamin E and Vitamin C in 40 patients with chronic renal failure and 40 subjects as control group. Serum MDA, Urea, Creatinine, Total protein, Serum iron, Albumin, Uric acid, Vitamin E and Vitamin C were measured in both patients and control group. Serum MDA, Urea, Creatinine, Serum iron and Uric acid were significantly high but plasma Total protein, Albumin ,Vitamin E and vitamin C were significantly low in patients when compared with control group (P<0.05).There was a significant negative correlation of MDA with Vitamin E (r=-0.53, P<0.05), Vitamin C (r=-0.47, P<0.05), Albumin (r=-0.66, P<0.05) and positive correlation between MDA and Creatinine(r=0.65,P<0.05).The aim of this study is evaluating both the lipid peroxidation and some antioxidant levels in patients with chronic renal failure.
